Thanks to Representative Anna Crook, Clovis Community College received $50,000 from the New Mexico Legislature in 2007 to begin the planning phase to renovate the Norman and Vi Petty Performing Arts Center (formerly the Mesa Theatre). A capital campaign to raise funds for the renovation will feature special naming opportunities, including buildings, rooms and seats. The theatre renovation will provide an attractive cultural feature in downtown Clovis and contribute to the revitalization of the downtown area. The College looks forward to presenting concerts in the theatre and celebrating its rich musical heritage from when Norman and Vi Petty worked with Buddy Holly and other talented musicians, including Lee Ann Rimes, who recorded her hit single, “Blue,” in the theatre.
