New Mexico 's beloved novel, Bless Me, Ultima, by Santa Rosa native, Rudolfo Anaya, comes to the stage in its Southwest premiere. Adapted by Mr. Anaya in collaboration with Albuquerque 's Vortex Theatre, the play is set in Guadalupe , NM during World War II and captures the magic of childhood with poetic elegance. Torn between his mother's earthy farming family and his father's wild vaquero brothers, young Antonio finds a wondrous middle ground in his relationship with the wise old curandera, Ultima. The main plot centers around Ultima's struggle to stop the witchcraft of the three daughters of Tenorio Trementina, while Antonio, after witnessing several deaths, must deal with religious and moral issues.

An affectionate tribute to Smalltown , USA of a bygone era, The Music Man follows fast-talking traveling salesman, Harold Hill, as he cons the people of River City , Iowa into buying musical instruments and uniforms for a boy's band he vows to organize – despite the fact he doesn't know a trombone from a treble clef! His plan to skip town with the cash are foiled when he falls for Marian, the town librarian, and chaos ensues as the townsfolk get wind of his scheme.
