Emergency Medical Services

Paramedics traditionally provide emergency medical treatment in the community. Upon completion of this program, students will be awarded an Associate of Applied Science degree in Emergency Medical Services.

Program Requirements

  1. Students must apply for admission to the EMS- Paramedic program.
  2. All students are to have a Professional CPR card that is renewed annually before admission.
  3. Advancement within each level of the program requires a grade of “C” or better in all courses in the Paramedic major.
  4. Students must hold certifications in EMT-Basic and EMT-Intermediate in order to be qualified for admission.
  5. The faculty reserves the right to recommend to the Executive Vice President the withdrawal of any student whose behavior interferes with the legal, ethical, and/or safe practice of emergency medical services. Students withdrawn under this policy are not eligible for readmission to the EMS Program.
  6. Applicants must meet the minimum level required on the Accuplacer test for admission to the program. Students applying to enter the EMS-Paramedic program are required to demonstrate English, math and reading competency levels. • ENG 102 (for the sentence skills requirement)
    • MATH 107 or higher (for the elementary algebra requirement)
