Associate of Applied Science in Computer Information Systems
Related Requirements (9 credits)

The Computer Information Systems program provides three areas of emphasis constructed around industry desired skills and certifications. These emphasis tracks are Microcomputer Applications and Technology; Networking, and Web Technology. Associate of Applied Science degrees are available in each emphasis.  If students choose to complete only the Program Requirements of a particular track, they are eligible for a Certificate of Completion in the respective emphasis of study.

The Microcomputer Applications and Technology degree track is designed to meet the training needs for small business entry-level positions that require a variety of computer skills.  The Word, Excel and Access classes are intended to help prepare students for the core Microsoft Office Specialist certification examinations for each application.  Training towards preparation for the Computer Technology/Industry Association (CompTIA) A+ and Certified Internet Web (CIW) certifications are included in this emphasis.

The Web Technology degree track provides students with a solid foundation in basic business management, marketing, and computing skills.  Topics presented help train students to design and develop interactive Web pages.  The Web Technology Associate’s degree and Certificate programs are intended to help prepare students for Certified Internet Web (CIW) Foundations and Associate level certifications, which are the building blocks in a series of industry-recognized Master CIW certifications.
