Legal assistants (also known as paralegals) assist attorneys in the delivery of legal services They:
- Draft documents
- Summarize documents—write briefs
- Conduct research
- Prepare exhibits
- Conduct interviews
- Maintain work files

- Good oral and written communication skills
- Good computer skills
- Ability to do research
- Ability to think analytically
- Ability to probe and ask questions
