Is there a future in a Nursing career?

Employment for nurses is projected to grow by 21 percent between 2008—2018, much faster than the average for all occupations. With the increase in demand for healthcare services, demand for LPNs and RNs will continue to grow. In addition to a median income level that averages between $35,000 and $60,000, nursing affords you the opportunity to travel the world and work in a variety of environments.

Why choose a career in Nursing

Many people are drawn by the desire to make a difference in a career that is about care giving and compassion, pursue work that is deeply inspiring and serves the greater good, or some combination of all these factors. Being a nurse stimulates the mind as well as the heart, requiring critical thinking rooted in evidence based practice. For those who desire to work within acute care settings and hospitals, public health settings or clinics, with newborns, children and adults, nursing is a career of choice. Nursing careers allow a great deal of flexibility in work schedules and places of employment as well, while providing both personal satisfaction and appropriate compensation.
