CCC Student Receives Acting Award...Clovis, NM (May, 2008) - Chris Cummins, a student and local businessman, received a commendation for "Special Achievement in Acting" at the Region VI American College Theater Festival in Huntsville, TX held in March. Cummins played the role of Dodge in Clovis Community College's production of Sam Shepard's Pulitzer Prize winning play, Buried Child. CCC was one of eight educational institutions and the only community college invited to the regional festival.
According to director Christy Mendoza, Cummins is an actor everyone enjoyed working with. "Chris was always looking for that one move that would make Dodge click. He inspired others and that made us all better."
The 2008 National Selection Team included Gregg Henry, artistic director for the Kennedy Center American College Theater Festival in Washington, D.C., and professors from New York University, Ball State University and the University of Idaho.
