Clovis Community College Executive Vice President Selected As Leadership New Mexico Participant...

Dr. Becky Rowley, Executive Vice President Clovis Community College, is among 48 leaders from across the state selected to participate in the 2008-2009 Leadership New Mexico Core Program. This is the 13th class for the Leadership Program.

Leadership New Mexico, a nonpartisan organization, was founded in 1995 as a statewide leadership organization dedicated to identifying and enhancing leadership throughout New Mexico by providing a forum for participants to strengthen their knowledge of challenges and opportunities facing our state. The participants and alumni are from diverse ethnic, gender, regional, and business backgrounds. Currently, there are nearly 500 participants from 52 communities across the state.

Leadership New Mexico's Core Program involves leaders who represent the various geographic regions and communities from the public, private, government, and non-profit sectors. Employers, community organizations, local leadership programs, or individuals may nominate candidates who demonstrate outstanding leadership potential. The Program is also open to all citizens of the state.

The Core Program sessions, which begin Thursday evenings and conclude Saturday afternoons, include topics such as health and human services, economic development, education, environment and natural resources, government, and crime and justice issues. The program sessions are held over six months in various locations around the state. The sessions are designed to address the various issues facing the state. Each program session features speakers and panelists that are acknowledged leaders in their specific field. The participants have the opportunity to engage in a discussion with speakers and to explore the issues in-depth.

Upon completion of the course, the graduates are prepared to develop networks for effective leadership and assume leadership roles on community and statewide issues.
