Beatles Tribute Band to Perform in Clovis...Hailed as the number one Beatles tribute act in the world, Yesterday brings its Beatle boots, velvet suits and on-spot vocals to Clovis on September 26 at 7 p.m. in Marshall Auditorium. This special performance kicks off the 2009-2010 Cultural Arts Series presented by Clovis Community College and The Citizens Bank of Clovis.
Created in Las Vegas 22 years ago, Yesterday has thrilled audiences around the world with its convincing and accurate portrayal of John, Paul, George and Ringo. Founded by John Lennon pretender, Don Bellezzo, the show was twice granted contract extensions to remain in its tailor-made Tropicana venue.
Featuring the early era of the Beatles, Yesterday goes to fanatical lengths to recreate the performances, including attire, accents, mannerisms and musical equipment.
"We have the exact same instruments the Beatles used—the Rickenbacker and Gretsch guitars, the Hofner violin bass, the Ludwig drums—and we do the songs in the original key of the Beatles when they toured," said Bellezzo. "Nothing's been lowered, nothing's been changed. Other tribute bands lowered the keys the Beatles performed in live because it's too hard to recreate," he added.
Yesterday has toured Japan, Canada, the Phillippines, Hong Kong, Bahamas and United States military bases throughout the world. The U.S. Postal Service invited the group to perform at the unveiling of the "Yellow Submarine" postage stamp at the Smithsonian Institute in Washington, D.C.
Tickets for the concert are $20 general admission, $15 for seniors, military and students and may be purchased at the CCC Cashiers' Windows, Information Tickets and Tours located in The End Zone at Cannon AFB, at the door the evening of the performance (pending availability), or by calling 575-769-4035.
