New Mexico Artists Celebrate Mother's Day in Clovis...Enjoy this special Mother's Day concert spotlighting New Mexico artists as they celebrate Mexican culture and the rich traditions of Jalisco, Mexico on Sunday, May 9 at 3pm at Marshall Auditorium. Sponsored by Clovis Community College and The Citizens Bank of Clovis, this is the final concert of the 2009-2010 Cultural Arts Series. Tickets are $15 general admission and $12 for seniors, military, and students. The Series offers a special family discount of five tickets for $40.
The concert features Mariachi singer, Reynaldo Maestas, Santa Fe's premier all-female recording group, Mariachi Buenaventura, and the award-winning folklorico dance troupe, Baila! Baila! From the Dance Academy in Albuquerque. Romantic serenades, powerful rhythms, and lyrical movements highlight this special concert. All mothers will receive a special gift from the Series.
Maestas is one of the leading Mariachi entertainers in the southwest today. Hailing from Las Vegas, NM, he has recorded several CDs and received nominations from the New Mexico Hispano Music Association. Mariachi Buenaventura prides themselves on unique arrangements of pop songs, cumbias and even a Mariachi twist. They have played throughout New Mexico and Arizona and performed for Governor Richardson and President Obama. The Dance Academy is the largest academy for instruction of Ballet Folklorico and dance entertainment in Albuquerque.
