Clovis Community College receives recognition as top "Military Friendly School"...August 16, 2010 — (Clovis, NM) — Clovis Community College was named as one of the nation's top Military Friendly School for 2011 by G. I. Jobs magazine. According to the G. I. Jobs website, the list is determined through research that is verified by a panel of five higher education administrators and includes only institutions that offer the best educational benefits to students who are taking classes while serving in the military. The panel recognized CCC for serving military students at an exemplary level, providing short-term, flexible programs. Clovis Community College has always provided services and established policies to meet the needs of the military. This is the first year Clovis Community College applied for and received this recognition. Clovis Community College is part of the General Education Mobile (GEM) program, which allows active duty military students to take online courses that meet the general education requirements of the CCAF degree. CCC enrolls approximately 200 military members and 240 military spouses and dependents each semester. Several of the armed forces students are completing assignments while they are often away from the classroom on missions. It is this dedication that drives the CCC Cannon Air Force Base education office to meet the needs of these exceptional students.
AIC Garret Oaks says: "I decided to attend to CCC to improve myself while I am stationed at CAFB. I am taking classes at CCC that will transfer to my bachelors of Intelligence Studies degree at American Military University. The CCC Coordinator at CAFB was awesome and always an advocate for the students. I also used the CCC pool to train for a half-iron man triathlon, coming up in Colorado in September."
