Ying Quartet to bring chamber music to CCC Town Hall on November 6...
Clovis, N.M. - Clovis audiences will be treated to a special reprieve from the bustle of Election Day activities, with a front row seat to the world renowned musical brilliance of the Ying Quartet.
Performing at 7 p.m. November 6 in Town Hall, Clovis Community College, the Quartet is widely recognized as a leading and prominent member of the classical music world.
Comprised of Ying siblings - violinist Janet, violist Phillip and cellist David - joined by violinist Ayano Ninomiya, the Quartet is touted as having reached the pinnacle of musical qualifications, gracing audiences from Carnegie Hall to the Sydney Opera House.
The in-residence quartet at the Eastman School of Music of the University of Rochester, the Quartet actively teaches and tours. Sharing their music with audiences for more than 20 years, the Ying Quartet began performing after being selected as the first recipients of a grant through the National Endowment for the Arts Chamber Music Rural Residencies Program in 1992.
Since that time, the Quartet has won numerous awards, including a 2005 Grammy award, the 1993 Naumburg Chamber Music Award, and has received two additional Grammy nominations.
Tickets to this event are $17, $12 for students, military, and senior citizens and can be purchased at the CCC Cashiers' Window, Chamber of Commerce, or at the door the evening of the performance, pending availability. This project is made possible in part by a grant from WESTAF, the Western Arts Federation, with support from the National Endowment for the Arts.
