Clovis Community College appoints Chief Information Officer...
CLOVIS, NM -- Clovis Community College is pleased to announce the appointment of Norman Kia to the position of Chief Information Officer.
A 13-year veteran employee of CCC, Kia was hired in 1999 as a computer support specialist and worked his way through the ranks of the Information Technology Department, most recently holding the position of Director of Institutional Research.
As CIO for the college, Kia is responsible for oversight of daily operations in four technology areas: Institutional Research, Administrative Information Systems, Systems and Networking, and User Services.
In addition to meeting ever-evolving technology needs required to support infrastructure, CCC makes technologically advanced classrooms and labs a priority and also provides wireless internet access campus-wide.
Kia is set to finish his master's degree in education, specializing in educational technology, from Wayland Baptist University the end of the semester. He is enthusiastic as he takes on a new opportunity to serve the students and staff at CCC.
Dr. Becky Rowley stated, "I look forward to working with Norman in his new position as CIO. I know that he will move our IT and IR departments in line with the mission of CCC and allow us to remain at the forefront of technology in our region."
With plans to focus his first year on exemplifying existing technology at the college, Kia said it is his goal to continue the excellent technology services provided on campus.
"It is a wonderful opportunity to serve as the CIO of Clovis Community College. CCC has been home for 13 years and is filled with wonderful people and memories," he said.
"As the department moves forward, I would like to continue the support provided to the staff, faculty and students. We have technologies in place that can be utilized further to help the staff and faculty as well as enhance the student experience."
