Amanda Elote Selected to Participate in ASRT Student Leadership Development Program...
March 21, Clovis, NM - Amanda Elote, a radiologic technology student at Clovis Community College Radiologic Technology Program, has been selected to participate in the American Society of Radiologic Technologists 2013 Student Leadership Development Program.
The ASRT represents 150,000 members who perform medical imaging procedures or plan and deliver radiation therapy treatments. The Society also provides radiologic technology students with the tools, services, and support they need to prepare for careers in medical imaging and radiation therapy.
As part of the application process, students were required to write a 500-700 word essay on how they expect to grow professionally by participating in the program.
Amanda will receive an all-expenses-paid trip to the ASRT Educational Symposium and Annual Governance and House of Delegates Meeting, June 13-16, in Albuquerque, N.M. In addition, Amanda will attend two educational courses specifically designed for students and be assigned a professional mentor during the House of Delegates meeting.
Amanda was one of 61 students chosen from more than 130 entries submitted by radiologic science students from around the country.
"The Student Leadership Development Program exposes radiology students to the ASRT governance process and connects them with a mentor in the profession," said CCC Radiologic Technology Program Director Melissa Ham, MEd., R.T.(R), ARDMS (Abd). "Not only is it an opportunity to network with fellow technologists, it is the first step of the journey for the student today whom is looking to be the administrator of an imaging department tomorrow."
