Clovis Community College has announced that the nursing program has received continuing accreditation from Accreditation Commission for Education in Nursing (ACEN).
The ACEN supports the interests of nursing education, nursing practice, and the public by the functions of accreditation. Accreditation is a voluntary, peer-review, self-regulatory process by which non-governmental associations recognize educational institutions or programs that have been found to meet or exceed standards and criteria for educational quality. The ACEN is recognized as the accrediting body for all types of nursing education by the United States Department of Education (USDE) and Council for Higher Education Accreditation (CHEA).
CCC received their initial accreditation for the nursing program in 1989 and was granted continuing accreditation in July 2017, following a self-study report and extensive on-site review by ACEN evaluators of the program curriculum, practices, and policies.
“I am so proud of our nursing director, Shawna McGill, and all of our nursing faculty. Achieving ACEN reaccreditation is a major accomplishment and one that affirms the quality of our program. I think that eastern NM and west Texas know how important our program is to healthcare in the region, and through the ACEN accreditation, a system of professionals has validated the quality of the CCC nursing program. I also want to commend all of the graduates of our program,” says CCC president Dr. Becky Rowley.
Accreditation not only provides useful information for career and education decision making, but also assists employers seeking graduates who are competent practitioners. CCC graduates approximately 30 RN students each semester and 50-60 LPNs annually.
“I am so proud of our team of nursing faculty and staff, and their dedication and commitment to ensure our nursing program is high quality. We are so fortunate to have the administrative support and the support of our community,” says CCC nursing program director, Shawna McGill.
