Is there a future in a cosmetology career?

The Bureau of Labor Statistics predicts that employment for cosmetologists will grow by 20 percent from 2008—2018, which is much faster than the average for all occupations. The demand for hair coloring and other advanced treatments has increased in recent years, particularly among baby boomers and young people. Earnings vary according to specialty.

Why choose a career in Cosmetology?

Enjoy a career that allows creativity, provides flexible work hours and a lucrative income. Many cosmetologists work as stylists, nail technicians or estheticians. There are many avenues to choose from. Cosmetology was rated among the "Top 50 Hottest Jobs," in Money Magazine. Participating in the Cosmetology program at CCC requires students to go through an application process. Interested students are encouraged to view admissions requirements, or download the Cosmetology Information Packet, which includes information on state board requirements, fees, and uniforms. Students can earn an Associate of Applied Science in Cosmetology. Certificates of Completion are offered in Cosmetology Theory, Hair Fundamentals, and Esthetics, as well as Certificates of Achievement in Salon Success and Nail Technician.
