Is there a future in a Early Childhood Educations career?

According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics, employment of early childhood educators is geographically distributed much the same as the population. Employment is expected to grow by 19 percent from 2008—2018, which is faster than the average for all occupations. Continued emphasis on early childhood education is increasing the demand as some states are instituting programs to improve early childhood education, such as offering full day and universal preschool. These programs, along with projected higher enrollment growth for preschool age children, will create many new jobs.

Why choose a career in Early Childhood Education?

Without a doubt, our children are our future. If you are considering a degree in early childhood education, you should enjoy children and have a strong desire to help them learn and succeed. You can help children become competent in their use of language, learn to deal more effectively with others, develop their imaginations, stimulate their curiosity, initiate literacy activities, and learn concepts about the world. You can make a difference in the lives of children. One child at a time, you can make a difference in our future!

Early Childhood Education majors are employed by early intervention programs, schools, summer camps, child care centers and other educational organizations to provide learning support to students. In a school setting or early childhood setting, early childhood education majors may use effective instructional strategies to help students with lessons and assignments, motivate and encourage students to participate in learning activities, and facilitate and encourage positive student behaviors.
