The Electrical Apprenticeship program provides training through a combination of classroom instruction, labs, and on-the-job training. This program is approved through the New Mexico Apprenticeship Council and the U.S. Department of Labor. Electrical apprentices spend a minimum of 144 hours per year in classroom training, and 2,000 hours per year learning on-the-job skills as paid employees of a sponsoring employer.
The Electrical Apprenticeship program is an 8-semester program. At the completion of the coursework and examinations, students may be licensed as journeyman electricians. Students pursuing the Associate of Applied Science degree in Electrical Apprenticeship must complete the General Education and Related Requirements as well as successfully complete the Program Requirements.
Students may take the Electrical Apprenticeship program for an Associate of Applied Science, Certificate of Completion, or Letter of Qualification.
