Library Policies

These policies are applicable to all library users and are enforceable by all library staff.

General Behavior: All library users are expected to respect other users and library staff.

  • Disruptive activity or any behavior interfering with ordinary library use or operation, likely to endanger others, or that other patrons might reasonably find disruptive or offensive is not permitted.
  • Using tobacco products or electronic cigarettes is not permitted.

Facility Use: Library facilities are intended for ordinary library activities and those sponsored by the Library. Users are expected to respect library facilities.

Rules of Conduct:

Refrain from eating messy/smelly foods or full meals in the library. This can be done in the Cyber Café. Snacks and covered drinks are allowed in the library.
Observe quiet areas; set earphones low so as not to disturb others.

Please turn off all ringtones when entering the library. Cell phone conversations must be conducted outside the library. If your cell phone use disturbs others, you may be asked to leave the library.

Computer Use: The Library's resources, including all computers, are provided for research and information to support instruction.  Students, faculty, and staff of Clovis Community College will be given priority use of the library computers. Please use computers in an appropriate, ethical, and lawful manner. Academic use has priority over recreational use. Three computers are available to the general public (non-students) with a 10 cent per page fee for printing from these computers. We reserve the right to restrict or refuse access and computer use if a patron does not comply with College policies. All users are expected to exit their computers ten minutes before closing.

Study Rooms:

  • Study rooms are for CCC student academic purposes
  • Reservations are not taken. Rooms are checked out on a first-come, first-served basis.
  • A current CCC student ID is required to check out a study room. The person who checks out the study room is responsible for the condition of the room and should return furniture to the original arrangement.
  • Rooms are NOT to be used for functions such as meetings, classes, seminars, or lectures; other facilities are available for these activities.
  • Groups of two or more will have preference in the use of Group Study Rooms. Should Library Staff observe a large room that is being used by one patron, that patron will be asked to move to smaller room.
  • Once a group has signed up for a room, they should remain in the room. If the group needs to leave the Library for some reason, all belongings must be taken. The Library is not responsible for lost, damaged or stolen items.
  • Rooms left unattended for 15 minutes will be forfeited if another group needs the room. Any belongings will be moved to the hallway.
  • Study rooms should not be used by any single group for more than three hours if another group is waiting.
  • The Library reserves the right to inspect study rooms at any time and to remove unauthorized materials or prohibited items.
  • The rooms are not soundproof; users should be sensitive to the need for quiet in order not to disturb other library users.
  • Food is limited to snack or wrapped items which are consumed individually. No group meals, fast food, or open plates of food are allowed. The delivery of food to the library for library users is prohibited.

Copyright: The library adheres to copyright law contained in Title 17 of the United States Code.  The library posts copyright notice in areas with unsupervised copy machines-scanners and reserves the right to refuse to accept a copying order if, in its judgment, fulfillment of the order would involve violation of copyright law.

Gifts: The Office of Resource Development has a responsibility for accepting monetary gifts from private sources on behalf of Clovis Community College. The Library does accept gift books, media, periodicals, etc. Generally, donations are accepted with the understanding that the Library retains the right to determine disposition.

The library has defined unattended as the parent and child(ren) not being in close proximity in the same room. Children 16 years of age and older may use the library print materials and the computers.
