What is Academic Coaching?

Have you ever studied for hours and still felt unsure about the material? Do you need to develop a plan to accomplish your goals? Do you ever wonder where all your time goes?

Well, Academic coaching provides individualized academic support. By working with an academic coach, you can develop significant skills in goal setting, time management, and test preparation.

But Academic coaching is NOT Advising, Counseling, or Mentoring.

The International Coaching Federation defines coaching as partnering with clients in a thought-provoking and creative process that inspires them to maximize their personal and professional potential. Coaches honor the client as the expert in his or her life and work and believe every client is creative, resourceful and whole.

Why should I meet with a coach?

Academic coaching isn’t just for students who are facing challenges in class. It is also a valuable resource that can support your academic goals.

When should I meet with a coach?

Whenever you...

  • feel you’re “not doing well”
  • feel “too much” academic pressure
  • want to explore academic options
  • want to improve your learning or life management skills

If you think you can benefit from any of these, schedule an appointment today! You can meet one-on-one with any of our Academic Coaches. A conversation might just be what you need to keep you on the path to graduation!
