CCC Announces New PTA Program Receives Full Accreditation

November 29, 2016

Clovis Community College has announced that it’s newest addition, the Physical Therapist Assistant (PTA) program, has received accreditation from The Commission on Accreditation in Physical Therapy Education (CAPTE).

CAPTE is an accrediting agency that is nationally recognized by the U.S. Department of Education (USDE) and the Council for Higher Education Accreditation (CHEA). CAPTE grants specialized accreditation status to qualified entry-level education programs for physical therapists and physical therapist assistants. The accreditation process is not only used to ensure the quality of students’ education, but also offers several outlets for students to explore when looking at programs and how to navigate them.

“I am so proud of the team effort that went into creating the PTA program. The facility was created by leveraging General Obligation Bond funds and Trade Adjustment Assistance Community College Career Training (TAACCCT) grant funds. Pulling those funding streams together to create a top notch facility required creative coordination from many people. I am especially proud of the work of our PTA instructors, Brandi Varnado and Robin Broom. The accreditation requirements for CAPTE are rigorous, but our highly qualified instructors have designed an outstanding PTA program that is training outstanding Physical Therapist Assistants,” says CCC president Dr. Becky Rowley.

The two take pride in their work both inside and outside of the classroom, and instill positivity and fortitude within their students.

“We are excited to offer a program that is in line with the College mission of “seeking educational opportunities within and beyond the limits of our communities” by providing an accredited PTA program that allows licensure throughout the United States and will help improve the regional provision of physical therapy services,” explains Varnado.
