Reach new heights with hands-on training in electrical and mechanical systems that will prepare you for an exciting career in electrical maintenance, wind energy, or plant operations.
Industrial Technology programs prepare graduates to operate and maintain industrial equipment in production plants and wind farms. Graduates of a degree program in Industrial Technology will find work in a wide variety of career fields, including industrial production, industrial maintenance, and power generation. If you enjoy working with your hands and are intrigued by how machines work, a degree in Industrial Technology might be for you. In this field you'll learn the fundamentals of the operation and maintenance of complex industrial systems.

The full-time Industrial Technology program provides training in two areas: Plant Operations & Equipment and Wind Energy.
The Industrial Technology program is a full-time occupational technology program that allows students to complete program requirements in just 3 semesters and a summer. Classes are Monday - Friday from 8 a.m. to 12 p.m. Students can start in either the fall or spring semester.
Upon completion of the full-time program students can earn a Certificate of Completion from CCC in Industrial Technology and Certificates of Achievement in Plant Operations & Equipment and Wind Energy.
During the spring of the 2nd or 3rd semester, students have the opportunity to complete a climb class through our partnership with Mesalands Community College. This class allows students to climb and simulate maintenance of a wind turbine. Students who successfully complete this class will earn a national certification in Competent Tower Climber/Rescuer.
These courses all feed into the Associate of Applied Science degrees in Industrial Technology. Students can earn two associate degrees in:
Students can complete the associate degree requirements in 2 additional semesters.
Individuals interested in applying for admission to the full-time Industrial Technology program must:
Upon completion of all admissions requirements, students will be placed on a waiting list based on the date in which all admissions requirements are completed. Students will be notified by letter once they have been accepted into the welding program and must register by the deadline provided in order to secure a spot in the program. Students who receive a letter but do not register prior to the deadline will be moved to the bottom of the waiting list. Open enrollment will begin the Monday preceding the first week of classes. During open enrollment, any student who has met all requirements may register for the full-time program on a first-come, first-served basis provided there is still availability in the program. Students accepted into any Occupational Technology program must register prior to the first day of class.
Careers in the Industrial Technology field include industrial machinery mechanics, machinery maintenance workers, electrical/mechanical technicians, and wastewater treatment plant operators. This field provides lots of opportunity to move up into management positions for those who complete an associate degree.
Career opportunities in this area include wind turbine technicians. Employment of wind technicians (windtechs) is projected to grow 24 percent from 2012-2022. Individuals with an associate degree and experience in wind turbine climbing are more competitive for jobs available.
According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics, in May 2012 the median hourly wage in this jobs in this field were as follows:
