VA Application Process

Steps to certify for VA Benefits

1. Apply for admission to Clovis Community College.
2. Log into the VA portal to request your Certificate of Eligibility, stating which chapter you are eligible for. This form will need to be turned the Admissions office or emailed to admissions@clovis.edu. 
3. Fill out the Request for VA Certification form and visit with your academic advisor. Advisor will need to sign off on the form. The form will then need to be turned into the Admissions office.   
4. Both the Certificate of Eligibility and the Request for VA Certification forms will need to be submitted to our Admissions team. Both forms will then be submitted to the VA for verification.  
5. Brand new students must also make sure to submit their official high school transcripts along with any official college transcripts before submitting their Request for VA Certification.  
6. VA Students will need to check their student email throughout the semester for any updates.

VA Benefits Payment

VA estimates the time necessary to initially establish a VA account to be 6-8 weeks. Once your account is established with VA and you are continuously enrolled at Clovis Community College you will receive monthly payments from VA during those enrollment periods and during the interim periods between semesters. The amount of these payments will be based on the number of credit hours you are enrolled in each semester.

For full 16 week terms:

• 12+ credit hours = Full-time
• 9 - 11 credit hours = 3/4 time
• 6 - 8 credit hours = 1/2 time
• 1 - 5 credit hours = 1/4 time

For mini-terms and Summer term

• 6+ credit hours = Full-time
• 4-5 credit hours = 3/4 time
• 3 credit hours = 1/2 time
• 2 credit hours= less than ½ time
• 1 credit hour= ¼ time
