CCC Cultural Arts Series Presents State Street Ballet’s The Jungle Book

The State Street Ballet is returning to Marshall Auditorium as part of Clovis Community College’s Cultural Arts Series on April 6, 2023 at 7 p.m. to present Rudyard Kipling’s The Jungle Book. Come witness the complexities of the jungle and the personalities of its creatures through movement, music, and the dynamic storytelling of some of life’s greatest moral lessons.

Choreographed by State Street Ballet’s Founder and Artistic Director Rodney Gustafson, with an original score by Czech composer and conductor Milan Svoboda, The Jungle Book transports viewers through a mystical land of wolves, snakes, monkeys, and panthers, showcasing relationships and alliances in this iconic coming-of-age story. Drama, humor, and daringly athletic choreography have made this a consistently successful production, one that pleases audiences of all ages.

For the first time, the Series will also feature 12 local young dancers from the Marshall Middle School Sparklettes dance team, who will join State Street Ballet on stage for the production. Shannon Royal, instructor of the Marshall Middle School dancers said, “Our dancers are so excited to have the chance to dance with the State Street Ballet. They have been working hard on the choreography and this will be an amazing experience they will remember for the rest of their dance careers and lives.”

The Series partners each season with Clovis Municipal Schools and provides important educational outreach to area students as well as complimentary tickets. Christy Mendoza, director of the series, commented, “Our outreach provides a unique experience of introducing elementary students to different art forms which are normally only found in larger cities.”

Tickets are $20 general admission, $15 for seniors/students/military and a family friendly pass is available which includes 5 tickets for $45. To purchase tickets please visit the CCC Cashier’s Windows or call (575) 769-4031. The Series is presented by Clovis Community College and The Citizens Bank of Clovis.
