If you are considering a degree in Early Childhood Education, you should enjoy children and have a strong desire to help them learn and succeed. In a school or early childhood setting, graduates of this program use effective instructional strategies to help students with lessons and assignments, motivate and encourage students to participate in learning activities, and facilitate and encourage positive student behaviors.
Our Associate of Arts Degree in Early Childhood Education addresses the early childhood education competency areas required as partial fulfillment of the New Mexico Department of Education licensure in Early Childhood Education (birth to third grade).
The online Early Childhood Certificate of Achievement is designed to provide coursework to prepare students to apply for the state awarded New Mexico Child Development Certificate under the auspices of the New Mexico Child Development Board.
The Associate of Arts in Early Childhood Education degree consists of 65 credits and can be completed in four semesters.
The Certificate of Achievement in Early Childhood Education consists of 11 credits and can be completed in one semesters.

Employment for Early Childhood Educators is projected to experience average growth between 2012 and 2022, with the projected number of job openings to be 382,600. The statistics for growth are even more favorable when you look at New Mexico specifically, which projects a 20% increase in teacher assistant jobs between 2012 and 2022.
